Brrrrr. . . I'm COLD!

I am in Michigan. It is cold and sleeting right now and I miss Jay so much, but I am really glad to be here. I am spending a lot of time with my mom and I just finished spending time with my friend Jane (she is the older woman in the picture off to the side) and she has been one of my closest friends and mentors since I was a freshman in high school.

It is refreshing to spend time with people who know you, and have known you well for years. I love the friends I am making in Nebraska, but sometimes it is just nice not to have to explain where you come from any time you want to have a deeper conversation. So that is one thing I am really thanking God for today. . . long time friends.

I hate to FLY!

Here is a trait about me that I believe I inherited from my father - I HATE TO FLY! It's not the heights that bother me, or the possibility of crashing. I simply hate being a tube full of strangers that I can't leave if I want to.
I am flying to Detroit today to spend some time with my family. I'm sending out the call to anyone here in Lincoln to show Jay some love since he can't come with me and he has a hard time being alone.
On a side note, for the first time yesterday I saw a robin fighting with a worm to get it out of the ground. My presence shocked the bird into leaving and flying away, behind it the bird left a dejected (possibly dead) worm that just lay there. It didn't retreat back into it's muddy sanctuary.

First Blog

I must begin by informing everyone that I am not an experienced blogger, nor have I ever considered myself an excellent or entertaining writer. But considering the massive changes that my life has recently experienced, along the even more extreme changes that are inevitably on the way (for any of you who know Jay - this comment needs no explanation), I thought this was an apt time to begin my own blog.
